When you play with a 5 year old boy...

One of the little kiddos I babysit loves to play army men, so EVERY TIME he comes...that is what we get out to play with first!
I must admit, I'm not very good at playing army men...guess I didn't have much practice growing up!!! ;) Though I must say, every once in a while Katelyn and I would get out our dad's old set and play with them, of course with no one on the good side getting killed and they always won! Very unlike this little guy who would wipe out whole sections of army men on both sides while making all sorts of different shooting noises for the different types of guns! Yep...boys play way differently than girls!!!
At one point in our playing last night, he was over with the helicopter bringing some army men home for a visit (can you guess whose idea that was? ;) and he told me the helicopter broke down and he needed some troops "in the east" to come fix it "pronto!!!"
I was amazed that he actually knew he was east of me and wondered if he really knew what he was talking about---since the only way I know which was is east is to think of where the piano is in our house (North) and go from there...I think Mom told us that was North once during homeschool and it has stuck with me since!---so I asked him where the other directions were and he got them all right! Then I asked him how he knew all that and he told me, "Because I know these things!!!" :)
This kid is so smart and says the funniest things...he sure can make me laugh!

That is really funny, I don't even know my directions. Whatever is in front of me is always North:)

Cute! I remember playing "Army" with you and the little guy that one time. What a riot! He is a sweetheart and wise beyond his years.
