A Sign of the Season

With school out for Veteran's day, we decided to take a trip to Grandma's to make lefse and continue our fall tradition! We were trying to figure out how many years we've been doing it now...and we're still trying to figure it out! :) We started pretty young, though, since Grandma said our lefse wasn't very round...so we had fun seeing different odd shapes, like Africa-shaped lefse! ;) Now, we have goals of round, almost transparently-thin lefse! :)
---
We were busy all day...messing up Grandma's kitchen and making enough lefse to feed our family for Thanksgiving and Christmas...as well as lots of extras to eat :)
This year we made 80 lefse (4 batches)...
and a batch of flatbread!
We even had time to kick our feet up and relax with a root-beer float break...reminiscing about family reunions and fun times together.
Speaking of memories...ever since we were little girls, we remember Grandma's "pink mints" in a jar on her counter. We LOVED them...probably because they are pink ;)
Obviously, hours on end of dusting with flour, scraping off "sticks", rolling, frying, and cooling lefse...well, it must get to you after awhile, since we soon took after each other with the lefse stick and rolling pin...
OK, so maybe this was a little staged ;)
We're so happy we were able to keep up the tradition once again this year!
